Getting Back to Business
By Cllr Amy Gray, Chair of the Council
Safety and Speed
We have helped facilitate the stop lines and collaborated with the village hall to improve signage at the shop junction and get traffic volumes and speeds monitored around the village. Contrary to some theories, the findings are generally good on keeping to the 20 mph with volumes much the same as in 2018 19.
Grass Cutting
The single reputable company has again done a good job so far, for which we have received more praise than criticism. The glebe bank has fans and detractors, and we will continue monitoring performance.
Our clerk is now RFO too
After a successful couple of years as clerk, we appointed Sarah jane as our RFO in April when Kate fully stepped down. A long-standing resident within the village and parish “SJ” has done a great job as Clerk. She is now CILCA certified as a trained clerk and has done a great job in difficult times. Thanks go to Kate for her time too.
Planning for the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
The village hall will again be decked out in her glad rags for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Best Kept Village Near Miss
We came 2nd in the best-kept village competition in 2021 after it resumed. So we compete again, striving for success in 2022!
ACPC Facebook page and website information
The AC PC Facebook page and the semi-related community group that was set up in 2020 has again proved its worth with parish and community updates during the winter adverse weather along with notifications for local events.
Summary
The many things above sum up the continuing strengths of our community and the Parish Council. All members of the parish council, whether born and bred in the village or relative newcomers like myself, work quietly for the good of the village and parish as a whole.
Thanks also to anyone else who has supported us over the last year. Thanks again to our Clerk and our outgoing RFO. Many thanks to my fellow councillors and all volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the parish what it is today.
Amy Gray, Chair
