MINUTES OF A PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Held in the Village Hall, All Cannings on Wednesday January 8th 2014

MINUTES

Minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on 30th October, having been circulated were confirmed as a true record and signed by the chairman.

REPORTS

 

Village Community Store: Very successful Christmas party to report.

PCC: Churchyard: Confirmation received from the Diocese of Salisbury that the Parish Council is responsible for the safety of trees, tombs, monuments, war memorials and boundaries in a closed churchyard. The immediate concern regarding some of the trees will be addressed by commissioning a tree survey to be carried out by a suitably qualified tree surgeon.  Replacement warning signs to be installed. Insurance to be checked for public liability.

Cemetery: Nothing to report.

Village Green:  Notices to be put up and article to be published in the Church Newsletter regarding dog fouling. Poop Scoop bags to be ordered.

Village Hall/Pre-School: Damp situation due to use of non-breathable paint.

Administrator to be appointed to improve continuity.

Glebe Field: Letter sent to residents with property backing on to Glebe Field will be asked to refrain from dumping garden waste.

All Cannings Primary School: Christmas Market very successful.

 

CORRESPONDENCE

 

Thank you letters received from Mrs. Currie regarding the donation from the Parish Council  to the British Legion Poppy Appeal. All Cannings collections totalled £555.24.

Thank you letters also received from Devizes and District Link and the Wiltshire Live Music centre for donations to their funding.

Wiltshire Council: C8 Cannings Cross road to be closed to its junction with C51 Lipgate in an easterly direction to its junction with Church Road for resurfacing on 29th January. Closure will be from 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Precept: It was proposed and agreed that the precept should be increased by 10% which would amount to an increase of 30p per month on a band D property. The grant for the precept has been reduced considerably by Wiltshire Council.

 

Litter Bins: Quotations to be investigated. The dog fouling has worsened in the village.

Extra notices have been put up.

Parish Notice Boards: Both notice boards in the parish need to be replaced. Quotations to be investigated.

Glebe Field: Heap of rubbish to be removed.
