MINUTES OF A PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
Held in the Village Hall, All Cannings on Wednesday 31st January 2001

MINUTES
Minutes of the previous meeting held on 29th November 2000 having been circulated, were confirmed as a true record and signed by the Chairman.

MATTERS ARISING

Millennium Committee: No news.

Allington Corner: No news

Recycle bins; The councillors asked that the Mr & Mrs Lawrence be contacted regarding the proposed re-citing as they were unsure they had given their agreement. Kennet are still liasing with Hills Waste regarding resurfacing.

Rubbish: Humberts will be contacting Mr Game.


REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES

Village Hall: The new Chairman is Paul Oakley. Finances are healthy so there is no heating surcharge. Plans are being drawn up for showers for the Football Club who will finance it.


PCC: Annual Meeting will be held April 24th everyone is welcome. The Christmas services were well attended.

FtPs: Drewitts Lane Ftpath 3/4 banks – the footpath warden suggested grass as being the most effective at stopping erosion. The Clerk was asked to find out who would do it. There is a lot of tree pruning near the allotment path, Mr Game will be clearing it.

Transport: None.

Leisure Facilities:
Play Area: Cycle Track is awaiting good weather before being commenced. A sign needs to be organised. The councillors asked that the insurance company be contacted regarding the exact wording required.

Cradle seats and rubber tiles – the Clerk has asked for quotes for these from four companies and will pass on this information to Mrs Butcher to review and make a recommendation at the next meeting.
Insurance assets need to be re-valued before the next audit the clerk will have to contact various organisations to have them evaluated.
A grant application to The Countryside Agency for the access point onto the Green was refused.

All Cannings Village Hall: A notice for the licence renewal granted was received and will be put up on the notice-board.

Devizes Courthouse: A letter from Charlton & Wilsford Parish Council was received informing us that the Courthouse in Devizes is under threat and all business will be carried out in Salisbury. They were seeking the council’s support in writing to the Wiltshire Magistrates’ Committee to object to the closure. The Clerk was asked to do so.

Best Kept Village Competition: Entry forms for 2001 competition have been received, the Clerk was asked to enter All Cannings and post up when the judges would be coming round.

Devizes & District Link: A letter of thanks was received for the donation of £50 given in December last year.

Police Mobile Station: A letter from Devizes Police was received asking if All Cannings has an event at a weekend where local residents would be in attendance. If the council were interested then would we contact them with a possible date. It was suggested that the School Fete would be an appropriate event Mrs Riseley –Prichard would let the Clerk know the date.

ACCOUNTS

One cheque was submitted for signature.

Subscription for NALC membership due £9.99. The council will continue its subscription


ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Abandoned car: The Clerk was asked to report an abandoned car by Allington bridge to KDC.

Meeting closed at 8.15pm
