MINUTES
Minutes of the previous meeting held on 26th January 2000 having been circulated, were confirmed as a true record and signed by the Vice-Chairman.

MATTERS ARISING
Adoption of Amenity Areas, The Glebe:

Commuted Sum: The Clerk contacted Mr Legg who agreed to draw up plans for an access point at a cost of £150. He was asked to go ahead

LinC Scheme: nothing to report

Churchyard Path: No further work has been undertaken.

Millennium Committee: The faculty has been received and planting will be completed soon.

Stiles: The Clerk wrote to the land owner Mr Butcher who raised no objections to the proposal. The footpath warden was not available to be asked if both gates could be installed free, whilst they were doing repairs on the bridge. The Clerk would continue to try to contact her

Contracts: Mr Coles , Mr Game and Mr Gunnell are all willing to continue their grass cutting contracts for another year.

REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES

School: The Ofsted Report is due soon, the governors have seen a confidential brief and are happy that the report will be good.

Village Hall: The new Public Entertainment Licence has been obtained. Trees are to be planted at the rear of the plot.

PCC: Various fund raising is taking place. A question was put to the PCC as to whether any further development of The Glebe was likely. As far as they know there is no future development proposed.

FtPs: FP14: The Clerk alerted the owners of those properties backing onto the footpath that there are several Elms that are dead and a potential hazard to users of the footpath. She told by the owners that these were outside their boundaries. Mr Gale replied he would be happy to assist in their removal. The Clerk was asked to contact Simon Turner to find out what to do.

Transport: Bus Route 11 from Alton Barnes to Devizes Saturday service will cease after 15th April 2000 due to lack of usage. The Mon- Fri services will continue

Play Area: There was a mess after the hedge was planted as kids had vandalised the sleeves and canes. Mrs Butcher was mandated to remove any dangerous stakes. Mr Butcher had made up the edge of the basketball pitch which was a trip hazard. The large net on the play equipment is torn and needs to be made safe

Millennium Committee: A diagram of the positioning of the sarsen stone to be placed on The Pound and the inscription it will have was put before the council for their approval. No objections were raised to that nor the proposal to place the Allington stone on private land.

Devizes & District Link: A letter was received asking for a donation and updating the council on the number of calls dealt with from all the surrounding villages including All Cannings. It was proposed by Mr Butcher and seconded by Mrs Currie that a donation of £30 be made under Section 137 as the organisation fell within the council’s charity donation policy.

The Clerk was asked to find out if Mr Game, Mr Coles and Mr Gunnell were still proposing to continue working for the council in the next year and to update their contracts.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

FP14: The Clerk was asked to alert the owners of those properties backing onto the footpath that there are several Dutch Elms that are dead and a potential hazard to users of the footpath. She was asked to remind them of the conservation area regulations concerning trees that need cutting down.

Obstructed Street Light: The Clerk was asked to report street light 17 to the Clarence Line as it is being obstructed by a pole place in front of it.

Meeting change; The next P.C meeting will be held on March 1st
